Hoy, a morning newspaper in Ecuador, has been published continuously since 1982. Its parent office is located in the city of Quito, and it is currently published simultaneously in Guayaquil. It was founded on 7 June, 1982, by Jaime Mantilla Anderson. In its career, Hoy has earned an important place in the Ecuadorian press, characterized by its openness to different schools of thought.
Hoy includes several sections, including General Information (Informacion General), Politics (Política), Economy (Economía), Community (Comunidad), Events (Sucesos), Culture (Cultura), Society (Sociedad), National (Ecuador), Sports (Deportes), World (Mundo), Entertainment (Entretenimiento), Just Sports (Solo Deportes), Daily Life (Vida Diaria), Business Journal (Diario de Negocios), Sunday Special (Especial Domingo) and Black & White (Blanco y Negro).
Hoy's products include the MetroHOY, Ecuador's first free newspaper distributed in the stops, platforms and stations of El Trole, Quito's trolleybus system, and MetroQuil, the first free daily newspaper distributed in Metrovia of Guayaquil, El Popular, the magazines Hoy Domingo (Sunday Today), Cometa (Comet), La Guía Inmobiliaria (Real Estate Guide) y Newsweek en Español (Newsweek in Spanish).
